Summary : We all hate spam. However, what you receive might not even be spam; the emails that you are receiving could very well be email that you have opted to receive. When you are using your email address online, you should always be careful.
Most companies will provide a way to unsubscribe your email address from their mailing lists. For instance, if you no longer want to receive our Tips and Tricks newsletter, all you would have to do is click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this email. We know you hate spam and we hate it too, so we try to make it as easy as possible for you to remove yourself from mailing lists if you are no longer interested.
If you have never heard of the company that you are receiving emails from, it is a good idea to not use the unsubscribe link as many spammers will use it for malicious reasons and will sometimes sell your email address to other people once you have unsubscribed from their mailing list. Please be assured that Bravenet does not sell your email addresses.
There are many ways in which you can get signed up for emails that you aren't aware of, such as offers through the partners of a website you have signed up for. This can be easily avoided by reading though the website that you are typing your email address into.
Emails sent out due to an agreement are not spam, but you might consider them spam. We will step further into the depths of real spam in future articles. Hopefully this article will help you to prevent your email from address ending up on unwanted mailing lists.
