Opinions vary as to everything involved in making your site search engine friendly. But there are three tags that you should definitely optimize for all of your pages.
When used properly these tags will make your site search engine friendly and improve the click through rates you receive when users find you in the search listings.
-- Title Tag
Without a doubt your HTML title tag is the most important tag of all for onsite SEO. A great title will help your site achieve rank even when the rest of your page could stand improvement.
This is probably due to the fact that search engine spiders and robots read your title almost immediately, and analyze the rest of your page based on what they find here. So it’s crucial to have one or more good keyword phrases in the title tag of every page.
And you can separate multiple title phrases with the pipe ‘|’ character. So if, for example, your site was about Tower fans you might have a title like this for your home page:
<title>Tower Fans | Oscillating Tower Fans | Remote Tower Fans</title>
As you can see it’s possible to insert two to three good keyword relevant phrases between your title tags. Avoid using more than three and avoid extra long sentences for your title tag; this info needs to be very succinct so search bots can assimilate it properly.
Be aware also that your title tag will appear as the headline searchers see when they find you on the results pages. A good title will bring more visitors because it is relevant to their search terms.
